Planting family plants and seedlings in summer cabins is not just about
saving souls. I hope these plants are sturdy, healthy, and can please
along with leaves, flowers, and fruits. In our environment, it is
impossible to always achieve this without additional effort. The main
problem is the short daylight hours. Make it backlit. And there is a
special plant growth lamp for this. They are also known as growth
lights, agricultural lamps (agricultural planting lights). There are
enough names, but they are essentially the same - they are the light
sources that make plants grow, bloom, and bear fruit better.
What is a plant growth lamp and how is it different from regular lamps?
For the growth and development of plants, specific parts of the spectrum
of light waves are required. In our color perception, this is the light
within the red and blue range. The blue part of the spectrum has a
wavelength of 420-460 nm, and the red part has a wavelength of 630-670
nm. Plants require the rest of the spectrum, but in much smaller
quantities.
When planting seedlings and maintaining greenhouses, plants will
"illuminate" - they use additional lighting to extend daylight hours.
You can use regular lamps for this operation, as their spectra also
contain the required range of light radiation. The difference between
plant growth lamps is that the spectrum is mainly composed of waves of
the required length. Therefore, theoretically, they will be more
economical than conventional backlighting. In fact, the unnecessary
spectrum of plants consumes less energy. This type of light source is
also known as agricultural lamps. They not only sell individual light
bulbs, but also the entire lighting fixture. They are also known as
plant growth lights, also known as plant fill lights. But the essence is
the same - in this type of light source, there is a large amount of red
and blue light.
There are two types of growth lamps. Some gas discharge gases have a
complete spectrum, but their difference lies in their higher radiation
intensity within the required range. This is reflected in the spectrum
of this light source. The second type of lamp is narrow band fluorescent
lamp and LED. You can distinguish it from traditional light sources.
Due to its main red and blue spectra, it emits purple light.
